Dr. Darren Whitfield, Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, along with Tural Mammadli, PhD candidate at the School of Social Work, and colleagues from Project Transcendence have been selected to present their research on HIV prevention strategies among Black women of transgender experience at the 2026 Biomedical HIV Prevention Summit in Chicago, IL. Their study, Project Transcendence, identifies facilitators and barriers to HIV prevention among Black women of transgender experience in the United States and highlights key potential intervention opportunities.
