Meng-Hsuan Yu, PhD Student, highlights Taiwanese Researcher Network at the 49th Fulbright Conference.

Meng-Hsuan Yu, MSW, a fifth-year PhD student at the UMSSW, presented a poster at the Fulbright Association’s 49th Annual Conference, held Oct. 23–25, 2026, in Washington, D.C.

The poster, titled “From Academia to Public: Building a Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge Translation Platform” highlights the Taiwanese Young Researcher Association (Project TYRA), a U.S.-based nonprofit that connects Taiwanese researchers across disciplines and countries. Through collaborations with Fulbright Taiwan and other global partners, the volunteer-led organization supports research exchange, career development, networking, public engagement, and mentorship for prospective graduate students. In 2025, its Mentor-Mentee Program matched 261 volunteer mentors with 439 graduate school applicants.

Meng-Hsuan discussed how community-based scholarly initiatives can broaden access to knowledge, strengthen public engagement with research, and help early-career researchers build an inclusive academic network, reflecting social work’s commitment to inclusion and equitable access to information and opportunities.
