UMSON assistant professor co-presents on disability-inclusive education at 150th American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities 150th Annual Conference.


Rebecca N. Their presentation, “Teaching Inclusion Through Collaboration: The Power of Interprofessional Disability Education in Health Care,” was part of a session on Enhancing Clinical Preparation.

The presentation highlighted interprofessional collaboration between UMB and Special Olympics Maryland to strengthen disability-inclusive health care education. Weston and Bennett shared how lived experience, standardized patient partnerships, and collaborative teaching strategies can help prepare future health professionals to provide more accessible, affirming, and person-centered care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
