Sarah Clem, MSW, PhD candidate, has received the 2026-2027 American Dissertation Fellowship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW). This award will support Sarah while completing her dissertation, “Barriers to Death Rituals: A Phenomenological Study of Bereaved Lived Experiences.”

AAUW is the nation’s leading organization for equity in higher education and women’s economic empowerment. AAUW’s largest funding program began in 1888, making it one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious fellowship programs exclusively for women. This fellowship supports women scholars who are completing doctoral dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research, or finishing research for publication.
