Tiffany Banks Honored with AAIDD Advocacy Award

Dr. Tiffany Banks, UMBC Social Work assistant professor, has been selected to receive AAIDD’s prestigious Advocacy Award.


Dr. Tiffany Banks, assistant professor in the Social Work Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), has been selected to receive an Advocacy Award from the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD). This special Sesqui Advocacy Award honors AAIDD members whose merit, impact, and contributions have advanced the field through research, policy, practice, advocacy, and service.

Dr. Banks is among 150 AAIDD members nationwide who were nominated by their peers and chosen by the AAIDD Board of Directors in recognition of their leadership and sustained commitment to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Awardees will be recognized during AAIDD’s 150th annual meeting and sesquicentennial conference, to be held in Chicago, Illinois, June 22–24, 2026.
