Tural Mammadli and Colleagues’ Abstract Selected for the Best Student Abstract Award in Population Health Sciences by the Society for Behavioral Medicine


Tural Mammadli, a PhD candidate in the University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW), and a team of colleagues have been awarded the Best Student Abstract Award by the Population Health Sciences (PHS) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM). The recognized abstract, entitled "Substance Use Among Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Youth Living in the US: A Systematic Review," was co-authored by UMSSW PhD candidates and students Linda-Jeanne M. Mack, Yali Deng, and Tharyn Giovanni; Associate Professors Darren L. Whitfield and Bruce DeForge; University of Connecticut Assistant Professor Chenglin Hong; Research and Education Librarian Gail D. Betz; and Harford Community College Assistant Professor Zach Runge. Tural will present the research at the 47th Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions of the Society for Behavioral Medicine this April.
