Associate Professor awarded a Community Partnership and Collaboration Core Pilot Grant.

Mei Ching Lee, PhD '11, MSHS, RN, associate professor, was awarded a one-year $50,000 Community Partnership and Collaboration Core Pilot Grant from Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical & Translation Research for her project, "Discover by Engaging Community in Decision-making for Empowerment: The DECIDE Study."

Her pilot study will test the acceptability of using a collaborative model to assist persons living with human immunodeficiency virus to identify and prepare a surrogate decision-maker. The translational aspect of this work is to use factors identified from previous clinical observation and from this study, community surveys with follow-up focus groups will investigate how this dilemma might be addressed to improve overall public health in alienated communities.
