Associate dean for diversity and inclusion participates in American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Group.


Jeffrey Ash, EdD, assistant professor and associate dean for diversity and inclusion, participated the inaugural in-person meeting of American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Group (DEIG), Aug. 5-7 in Washington, D.C. The DEIG serves as an expert think tank composed of experts from AACN member schools who share a commitment to leading across differences.

At the inaugural in-person meeting, DEIG’s primary objectives included:

  • Engaging with health profession organizations to explore structure and function of similar diversity groups
  • Exploring the lived experience of social justice with a visit to the National Museum of African American History & Culture
  • Dialogue among nurse educators with an expressed interest in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in nursing academic environments
