Assistant dean appointed to American Academy of Pediatrics National Advisory Group.


Assistant dean and director of the School of Social Work’s Institute for Innovation and Implementation, Michelle Zabel, MSS, has been appointed to the American Academy of Pediatrics National Advisory Group for its grant from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

The $6 million grant, funded through the 2020 CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) is entitled Supporting Providers and Families to Access Telehealth and Distant Care Services for Pediatric Care. The overall goal of the grant is to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable pediatric populations in response to COVID-19.

Serving on the National Advisory Group, Ms. Zabel will provide subject matter expertise in the areas of behavior and mental health (including substance use, suicide prevention and infant and early childhood mental health), community and rural health, family-centered care, medical home implementation, telehealth delivery and access, and payment.
