Fields named to Brookings Institute Working Group.

Suzanne Fields, MSW, Senior Advisor for Health Care Policy & Financing at the School of Social Work’s Institute for Innovation and Implementation, has been appointed to the Brookings Institutes’ Children’s/Young Adults Mental Health Working Group.

A part of the Brookings Building Healthy Neighborhoods Project, the working group brings together experts and policy entrepreneurs to identify and advance policy steps that would encourage collaboration across sectors to improve health and economic mobility. The Building Healthy Neighborhoods Project explores the crucial elements to build a culture of health, education, and economic mobility in lower-income communities.

The Children’s/Young Adults Mental Health Working Group focuses on mental health services for children and young adults in two contexts: school-aged settings and encounters with the justice system. The working group will be developing effective strategies for collaboration across agencies and sectors in order to avoid serious long-term problems for children and young adults and put them on a positive path. And the committee will also develop policy steps for all levels of government to build a better environment for coordinated action across sectors.
