It is the 10th year of Black Breastfeeding Week. This year’s theme is A New Foundation.
The founders of Black Breastfeeding Week have shared the top five reasons why black breastfeeding week is needed.
- High black infant mortality rate
- High rates of diet-related disease
- Lack of diversity in the lactation field
- Unique cultural barriers among black women
- Desert-like conditions in our communities and lack of support
