October is recognized nationally as Campus Sustainability Month. This October, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Sustainability and other partners will be hosting various events and initiatives across campus to celebrate sustainability. We welcome all members of the UMB community to participate!

Specialty Recycling Collections

Monday, Oct. 3-Monday, Oct. 31

Throughout the month of October, recycle your books, alkaline batteries, ink/toner cartridges, electronics, and plastic bags and film in designated bins in the lobby of the SMC Campus Center or in the lobby of the 620 W Lexington Building.

Office Supply Swap

Starting Monday, Oct. 3

A permanent Office Supply Swap will be launching on the six floor of 620 W. Lexington on Monday, Oct. 3. The swap will be located in the northwest corner of the sixth floor of the building. Stop by during normal building hours and leave an item and/or take an item! Accepted items include: pens, pencils, markers, paper, notebooks, tape, scissors, folders, and much more.

Cooking for Personal and Planetary Health

Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Nova Institute for Health

Enjoy an evidence-based nutrition class with the planet in mind; students will cook a meal that they can eat and take home. Email sustainability@umaryland.edu if you are interested in being sent the registration link once it is live.
