sticky note that says

Welcome to the fall 2022 semester! Please take a minute to read through these semesterly reminders.

  • Building Access: All staff, faculty, and students are required to swipe their One Card at a reader near the guard's desk every time you enter the UMSON building through the main doors. You do not need to swipe your One Card when exiting the building. Please also swipe your One Card when accessing the UMSON building from any other entrance (e.g., SMC Campus Center, Penn Street, etc.), even if you are following a colleague who has already swiped to unlock the door. You do not need to swipe again at the guard’s desk if you have already swiped at another entrance. Do not hold doors for people who have not swiped their One Cards.
  • COOP Plan: Please take a few minutes to read and familiarize yourself with UMSON's Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan, which facilitates the seamless continuity of the School's essential functions during and after an emergency, regardless of type or scale. You can find a link to the plan on the Policies, Procedures, Guidelines & Bylaws tab on the intranet. The plan will be updated annually or more frequently if changes are necessary.
  • Meeting Attendance: Please also familiarize yourself with UMSON’s Meeting Attendance Guidelines, also available on the intranet.
  • International Visitors: Are you planning to host international visitors at UMSON? If so, you must consult with the Office of Global Health in advance of their visit. Learn more in the Guideline for International Visitors.
  • Grant Proposals: When developing grant proposals that includes marketing or advertising efforts for which you'll need support from UMSON's Office of Communications, you must meet or otherwise communicate with a representative from the Office of Communications to develop a marketing plan and schedule and to discuss a necessary budget to support that plan BEFORE you submit your grant proposal. The Office of Communications wants to ensure that we can support your efforts as effectively as possible. Please contact Giordana Segneri at gsegneri@umaryland.edu for more information or to discuss your grant planning.
  • Media Requests: If you are contacted by a representative of the media for an interview, photography, editorial submission, or any other initiative, you are required to contact the Office of Communications at NRScommunications@umaryland.edu and your department chair immediately so that we may support the effort. The same holds true if you are contacted by a representative of the UMB Office of Communications and Public Affairs with a media inquiry.
  • Faculty Success: Don't forget, you can update your Directory profile content (e.g., Education, Publications, Presentations, Research Activity, Honors/Awards, Academic and Professional Activities) via Faculty Success.
  • Stop the Bleed Training: You are encouraged to participate in a 25-minute, self-paced online Stop the Bleed training offered by UMB.
Students, faculty, and staff, let your voice be heard!
