thanksgiving food

Project Feast is a student organization at the University of Maryland School of Medicine that is putting together a free Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Booker T. Washington Middle School for the underserved population of Baltimore. For the 33rd annual Project Feast event, we are sponsored by the Medical Alumni Association (MAA).

For the past 32 years, this event has been held on Thanksgiving Day at Booker T. Washington Middle School in West Baltimore and has fed hundreds of people. Every year, we have served approximately 400 guests with the help of 175 volunteers!

In previous years, in addition to providing a meal, we have connected our guests with a variety of community resources and distributed donated clothing, blankets, toiletries, and pantry staples to meet their more immediate needs.

Here’s how we could use your help:

Volunteer: Help spread the word about this event, bake turkeys before Thanksgiving, or volunteer serving the day of the event! Please sign up to volunteer using this link: https://forms.gle/P43s3wtjggSDyU8h9

Host a screening: We are looking for student groups interested in partnering with Project Feast to offer health screenings and/or health resources during the event, such as blood pressure screening, medication guidance, etc. If your student group is interested, please email us (projectfeastumb@gmail.com).

Donate: Gently used clothing, toys, nonperishable food items, and toiletries. Be on the lookout for an email once donation boxes are set up around campus.

Sponsor: Direct donations for the cost of a turkey, meal, coat, or any amount are always welcome and appreciated at: www.medschool.umaryland.edu/ProjectFeast

Please contact us with any questions or concerns (projectfeastumb@gmail.com).

Thank you!
