UMSON Professor Akintade Named Dean of East Carolina University College of Nursing
May 09, 2022The University of Maryland School of Nursing’s (UMSON) Bimbola Akintade, PhD ’11, MS ’05, MBA, MHA, BSN ’03, ACNP-BC, NEA-BC, FAANP, associate professor and associate dean, Master of Science in Nursing Program, was named dean of the East Carolina University College of Nursing, effective July 1, 2022.
Akintade joined the UMSON faculty in 2011 and has held a variety of leadership roles, including six years as director of the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist Doctor of Nursing Practice program, which he transitioned from master’s to doctoral level.
“I look forward to joining a strong team of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the entire Pirate Nation to extend the legacy of East Carolina University’s College of Nursing into the future by positively impacting the health of rural underserved regions, the state of North Carolina and beyond,” Akintade said.
