Stanford Medicine has partnered with Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the nursing profession, to develop a comprehensive new graduate RN residency program. This unique one-year residency is different from the traditional new graduate program because it provides an evidenced-based transition to prepare new graduate nurses for the highly complex and fast-paced acute care environment of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. Since 1974, Parkland Health has offered supervised clinical rotations through various departments including the Medical ICU, Neuroscience ICU, Burn ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Surgical-Trauma ICU, Emergency Department, and the Trauma Service. Interns will also benefit from an in-depth, comprehensive classroom component focusing on advanced physiology, pathophysiology, physical assessment, 12-lead ECG interpretation, mechanical ventilation, and more.
