Applications are now being accepted from students to participate in an international experiential course in Japan focused on aging. The course is GERO 710: Global Health: Aging in Japan. Course registration is for Spring 2024. Didactic portions of the course will be held during the second half of the Spring 2024 semester. We will then spend two weeks in Japan. Travel is expected to occur in June 2024.

Visit the program website for relevant information about the opportunity and the student application. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Dec. 1.

The expected program cost is $4,400, plus tuition and fees. Students selected to participate will receive a $2,000 scholarship to cover a portion of the costs associated with the trip. The scholarship is made available thanks to the generous support of the Center for Global Engagement and the Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research (GGEAR) Program at UMB. Students are expected to self-fund the remaining $2,400. Speak to your financial aid counselor regarding having these expenses covered as part of your financial package.

We have planned a rich learning experience with many partners in Japan who are also excited to welcome our students. We look forward to reviewing your application. For questions and additional information, contact Diane Martin, PhD, director, GGEAR, at diane.martin@umaryland.edu
