We are excited to release the Fall 2023 issue of the University of Maryland, Baltimore's (UMB) CATALYST magazine. This digital issue highlights remarkable innovations and milestones from across our schools and departments, recognizing the invaluable contributions of our students, faculty, and staff.

From School of Pharmacy students learning how to administer long-acting injectable medicines to Maryland Carey Law students working with their counterparts in Malawi as part of the Environmental Justice, Human Rights, and Public Health collaborative course, UMB’s spirit of innovation and discovery abounds.

UMB’s mission to improve the human condition and serve the public good guides our work. Learn about the Center for Violence Prevention and hear from its executive director, Nadine Finigan-Carr, PhD, MS. You’ll also read about the School of Social Work’s $5.5 million education grant to train mental health experts and place them in high-need schools and the new Kahlert Institute for Addiction leveraging the most advanced research and clinical care to overcome addiction. Hear from our three new deans, learn more about School of Medicine Dean Mark Gladwin, MD, as he answers our 5 questions, and much more.
