On May 25, the School of Pharmacy will host its annual Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) Symposium. It is designed to facilitate collaborations between the CADD Center and researchers at UMB, throughout USM, and beyond.

The symposium is appropriate for all scientists interested in the field of drug design involving both small molecules and protein-based drugs, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and researchers and educators from academia, government, and industry. A collection of local and external speakers, including computational chemists and experimentalists, will present recent developments in drug design and development, as well as emerging areas of biology that may represent future drug discovery targets. Space is also available for attendees to present posters.

The symposium will feature the annual Ellis S. Grollman Lecture in Pharmaceutical Sciences at 1 p.m. The speaker will be Marta Filizola, PhD, dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Sharon & Frederick A. Klingenstein-Nathan G. Kase, MD Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

The symposium is primarily an in-person event at Pharmacy Hall, but it will be possible to participate in the lecture portion of the symposium virtually. Registration is required for the symposium and the Grollman Lecture.
