Call for Volunteers: fMRI Study on Brain Function

We are seeking healthy volunteers for a research study conducted at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (Health Sciences Research Facility III). Participants will assist in advancing our understanding of brain function.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: Under 40 years old
  • Healthy, with no history of:
    • Vascular diseases (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure)
    • Claustrophobia

Study Details:

  • Session 1: A regular MRI scan (three minutes, no tasks).
  • Sessions 2 and 3: Breathing tasks (15 minutes per session):
    • You will breathe a controlled mixture of CO2 and O2 through your mouth while wearing a nose clip to prevent nasal breathing.
    • A short break will be provided between the second and third sessions.
    • Wearing a mouthpiece and nose clip is required for the task.

Compensation:

Participants will receive $40 for their time and effort.
