Early Voting in Maryland: Convenient and Open to All Voters in the State
October 23, 2024If you’re balancing a busy schedule, Maryland’s early voting period is the ideal time to make your vote count without the last-minute rush. Starting Thursday, Oct. 24, until Thursday, Oct. 31, any registered voter in Maryland can vote at their convenience, with early voting centers open daily, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Can I participate if I still need to register to vote?
Not registered yet? No problem. Maryland also allows same-day voter registration at any early voting center so that you can take part in the process right away. Check the Maryland State Board of Elections website to find your closest early voting center. There is a list of locations under “Where can I vote early?”
What if I want to vote by mail?
If you prefer to vote by mail, there’s still time to request a mail-in ballot. This option offers you the ultimate flexibility, allowing you to fill out your ballot from the comfort of your home and submit before Election Day on Nov. 5. In Maryland, the deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot by mail or fax is Tuesday, Oct. 29. The deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot online is Friday, Nov. 1.
What if I’m registered to vote in another state?
For those registered to vote out-of-state, check out the UMBVotes webpage for guidance on early voting and mail-in options in your home state. The site also has information on requesting an absentee ballot, making it easy to stay civically engaged while studying or working in Maryland.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) proudly supports civic engagement. Whether you cast your ballot early or vote by mail, all eligible students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to take advantage of the flexible voting options available — your participation and vote matter.
