UMB Police and Public Safety's next steering wheel lock giveaway is Thursday, Feb. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. in the SMC Campus Center lobby. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. One steering wheel lock per person. Anyone may receive a lock; there is no vehicle make/model, ID, or other requirements to receive a free lock.
Background
Across the country, Kia and Hyundai vehicle thefts have risen by more than 1,000 percent since 2020. While crime on campus remains low, UMB Police and Public Safety has worked with Hyundai Motor America to receive wheel locks to prevent vehicles from being stolen.
