Through free outreach and education programs, the Hippodrome Foundation (HFI), the nonprofit partner of the Hippodrome Theatre, works to introduce Maryland students and community members to the arts and the assets of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center.
By exposing young people to new possibilities, we are “raising the curtain” on opportunity. And today, we are writing with an opportunity for rising sixth-, seventh-, or eighth-graders of University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) employees.
HFI has worked with UMB for many years, and through this close partnership has successfully offered summer theater skills enrichment for hundreds of UMB children. This year, HFI will again be offering our free Camp Hippodrome. We invite your child to participate in one week-long session. The camp will be held in person at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, home of the Hippodrome.
There will be two one-week sessions offered during Camp Hippodrome 2024. Please register for one session only. Session dates are as follows:
Session 1: June 17 to June 21
This session ends on a Friday with a finale performance for family and friends on June 21 at 2 p.m.
Session 2: July 8 to July 12
This session ends on a Friday with a finale performance for family and friends on July 12 at 2 p.m.
**Please note this is a Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. commitment and your child must be able to attend all days of the session, with no exceptions! Note: Students must arrive and be picked up on time. HFI is offering this opportunity on a first-come, first-served basis.
We look forward to welcoming back Camp Hippodrome co-directors Caitlin Bell and Becky Mossing. This summer, activities will include theater, dance, music, vocals and more. The program is cumulative so again, students who participate will be expected to attend every day, arrive on time, and stay until camp is over. Please do not sign up unless you know your child can fully participate every day!
