University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, has been named to The Daily Record’s 2024 Higher Education Power List.
The Daily Record points out that Jarrell’s career at UMB has spanned nearly three decades, during which he has served as vice dean of academic affairs, dean of the University of Maryland School of Graduate Studies, executive vice president and provost, chief academic and research officer and senior vice president, and interim president before being named president in 2020.
The list recognizes the most significant, influential, and respected people in higher education in Maryland. It includes “presidents and other senior administrators leading their colleges and universities, policymakers charting a course for the future, advocates striving to improve access and equity and faculty members on the cutting edge of research and the liberal arts,” according to The Daily Record.
The list was chosen by the newspaper’s editorial team with input and perspective from readers and others.
This is the fourth consecutive year Jarrell has been named to The Daily Record’s Higher Education Power List.
Jarrell also was named to The Daily Record’s Power 100 list for 2023-24 earlier this year for the third consecutive year.
