Five CURE scholars

 Maryland Public Television will air the “From West Baltimore” series featuring five of the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) CURE Scholars in November on MPT2/Create. 

The documentary series by Oscar- and multiple Emmy-winning director Susan Hadary captures the journey of the five CURE scholars from middle school to college to highlight the importance of education as underrepresented students from West Baltimore.

UMB CURE Scholars is a groundbreaking, year-round program seeking to empower middle school and high school students in West Baltimore for competitive and rewarding research, health care, and STEM-related career opportunities.

Here is the schedule for the airings on MPT2:

  • “From West Baltimore”: Thursday, Nov. 14, 9 p.m.
  • “8th Grade: From West Baltimore”: Thursday, Nov. 14, 10 p.m.
  • “9th Grade: From West Baltimore”:  Thursday, Nov. 21, 9 p.m.
  • “10th and 11th Grade: From West Baltimore”: Thursday, Nov. 21, 10 p.m.
  • “12th Grade: From West Baltimore”: Thursday, Nov. 28, 10 p.m.
  • “First Gen: From West Baltimore”: Thursday, Nov. 28, 11 p.m.
