The University of Maryland Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (UM-OAIC) has two funding opportunities for those interested in aging research. Please visit our website to learn more about our center: https://www.medschool.umaryland.edu/peppercenter/

Pilot study funding opportunity (three projects at $30,000 direct costs each)

The UM-OAIC is providing funding for two-year pilot projects. This funding is designed to provide start-up support for quality research proposals of high relevance to the center’s mission, which addresses the process by which function is lost, and the multiple factors that affect the onset and progression of disability in older adults. Pilot funding is available to faculty from the University of Maryland, Baltimore; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; or University of Maryland, College Park.

Research Educations Core (REC) Scholar funding opportunity (two scholar positions up to $50,000 per year in salary and fringe)

The UM-OAIC provides an enriched research training and educational environment to promote the career development of early career faculty toward independence as investigators in aging-related research. The REC Scholar position is funded for a period of up to two years contingent on adequate progress.

Please visit our website for the RFA, form template, and submission process. Letters of intent are due by Oct. 31, 2024.
