Post-Graduate Social Work Interprofessional Palliative Medicine Fellowship Opportunity:
January 13, 2024The section of Palliative Medicine at Medstar Washington Hospital Center located in Washington, DC is recruiting for a one-year, post-graduate social work fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine. The interprofessional fellowship consisting of social work, physician and nurse practitioner or physician assistant fellows and begins July 2023, concluding at the end of June 2024. Fellowship is an intensive clinical experience designed to train future clinicians and leaders in the field, offering learners to a variety of field-related placements and educational activities. Social Work fellows are exposed to a variety of clinical settings and experiences including inpatient palliative care consult service teams at Medstar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital, outpatient palliative care clinic, Oncology, Ethics, Pediatrics rotations as well as both inpatient and outpatient hospice rotations. Academic learning includes weekly didactic seminar and case conference discussions, as well as journal clubs, in-depth case review, mentored capstone and quality improvement projects and other academic learning opportunities. Candidates for fellowship must have completed their MSW degree at an accredited school of Social Work by May 2024 and if not licensed prior to date of hire, must be eligible for LGSW licensure in Washington DC at the time of hire.
