SOWK 705 International Social Work Course will travel to Kerala, India, from Jan. 6-17, 2025. Applications are open until May 6, 2024. Decisions will be made by the end of May.

In this three-credit social work course, students will learn about social work and mental health care practices in India. Students will meet in the fall for three virtual classes and one in-person class. The travel portion of the course will take place Jan. 6-17, 2025, and includes participation in an international conference and visits to health and social service agencies in India. Assignments include a fall research project, journal assignments while in India, and campus presentation or article for The Elm in the spring semester.
Course meeting dates for fall 2024 semester:
- Sept. 13, 12:30-2 p.m., Zoom
- Oct. 11, 12:30-2 p.m., Zoom
- Nov. 8, 12:30-2 p.m., Zoom
- Dec. 13, 12:30-3:30 p.m., in person in Baltimore.
Participants will also be completing a group assignment, which will require additional meetings.
Course meeting dates for spring 2025 semester:
- Jan. 6-17, travel to India
- Jan. 31, 12:30-2 p.m., Zoom class meeting
