2024 Distinguished Service Award Recipient:
Henry Y. Lee, DDS ’79
Dr. Lee has been an active donor and volunteer with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) for many years. Lee began his loyal philanthropy in 1989 and in 2017 launched the Dr. Henry Lee Scholarship to provide financial support for students enrolled at the school who intend to pursue a career in general dentistry.
In addition to his generous philanthropy, Lee has given his time to introduce UMSOD Dean Mark A. Reynolds, DDS, PhD, MA, and others to state legislators and decision-makers who have, in turn, assisted the school in securing critical funds necessary for student success, patient care, research, and clinical operations.
Lee also has served on the UMSOD Dean’s Faculty, a group of volunteer practitioners who guide and mentor students through their clinical education and provide quality care to patients in the school’s clinics. He is a highly accomplished and respected dentist with over four decades of experience and service to UMB, UMSOD, the Maryland State Dental Association, and several other prestigious professional organizations. He is the father of two sons who are UMSOD graduates: Alexander F. Lee, DDS ’22, and Justin D. Lee, DDS ’23.
Henry Lee’s commitment to excellence in dentistry, patient care, and community service makes him a respected and beloved figure in the dental profession.
