Brown Bag Policy Session

The University of Maryland School of Social Work's (UMSSW) Office of Access, Strategic Initiatives, and Support is excited to sponsor the Brown Bag Policy Session on "Understanding the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)."

In our current sociopolitical climate, understanding the Freedom of Information Act has never been more crucial for those working in higher education. This training will explore FOIA's critical role in maintaining transparency, accountability, and public trust within universities and colleges. Participants will learn how to handle FOIA requests effectively, understand the exemptions, and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.

Join us to better understand your responsibilities and how to navigate this critical area in today’s rapidly shifting context.
