Emily Hurst: Why I Participate in the Maryland Charity Campaign
November 12, 2025
“When I started at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in early 2024, I was happy to learn that UMB participated in a charitable giving campaign. I have always been a regular supporter of my local public library, organizations committed to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes, as well as the organizations working to improve the Chesapeake Bay.
"Last year, when I was still new to Baltimore and Maryland, the Maryland Charity Campaign provided me with the opportunity to learn more about many great local, regional, and national giving opportunities. It was fun to get involved and be part of a community giving effort. The option which allows the funds to be deducted from payroll made giving fast and easy while also allowing me to give to multiple charities and inform the organization of my giving and sign up to receive updates about their work.
"As we prepare for Thanksgiving, a time to reflect and connect, the MCC is a great way to show your support and give thanks to all the organizations both regionally and nationally that make a difference in the lives of so many. Consider giving today through the Maryland Charity Campaign and join the UMB effort to support our communities!”
