As the pool of funding becomes increasingly competitive, private foundations and other nongovernment grants can fund research, fill funding gaps during lean times, keep work going while a principal investigator applies for government funds, or support a pilot project designed to obtain data necessary to compete for larger grants. This session will highlight how the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) early-stage faculty can work with the School of Medicine Foundation relations team to find and apply for funding opportunities that are geared toward early-stage faculty. Even though this session will focus on early-stage faculty, practical tips and strategies will be presented that are applicable to everyone.

Speaker: Emily Boydston, MBA, assistant director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, UMSOM
