The Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) supports its member institutions in exploring and sharing methods of anchoring local communities to address critical challenges, bolster economic development, and engender community well-being. The coalition provides member organizations with learning opportunities throughout the year via formal learning communities (Huddles), virtual workshops, and its annual conference.
All University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) employees and students have active CUMU membership provided by the UMB Office of Community and Civic Engagement (OCCE) and are eligible for member discounts. This year’s annual conference, “The Power of Place,” is in Baltimore from Oct. 26-29 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Harbor East. Please consider joining OCCE and the School of Nursing’s Department of Family and Community Health as we learn from member organizations and share our own efforts in supporting local communities.
