Let’s Talk Core Values: Respect and Integrity Core Values Conversation — Question 4
September 10, 2025At the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), our core values are more than aspirational statements. These values — Respect and Integrity, Well-Being and Sustainability, Equity and Justice, and Innovation and Discovery — shape our culture, guide our choices, and define how we treat one another.
This fall, we are spotlighting Respect and Integrity — the value that reminds us to treat one another with compassion and empathy, while holding ourselves accountable to act ethically and transparently.
Now through the end of October, we invite you to reflect on how this value has made a difference in your day-to-day life. Whether it is a small moment of honesty, a courageous act of accountability, or a time when someone truly listened with empathy. Those experiences matter as they help to build trust, foster belonging, and strengthen our community.
This week’s question (Respect and Integrity Question 4):
What does it take to create a culture where people can trust each other to do the right thing?
