UMB Police and Public Safety is giving away free steering wheel locks on Thursday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the SMC Campus Center lobby. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. One steering wheel lock per person, and you must be present to receive a lock.
Anyone may receive a free steering wheel lock; there is no vehicle make/model, ID, or other requirements to receive a free lock.
Background
Across the country, Kia and Hyundai vehicle thefts have risen sharply. While crime on campus remains low, UMB Police and Public Safety has worked with Hyundai Motor America to receive wheel locks to prevent vehicles from being stolen.
