My name is Makeya Segu Bekele, and I’m an international student at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Coming to the U.S. to pursue nursing has been a big part of my journey, and I’m passionate about building connections, supporting others, and making a difference in health care. I’m excited to serve as a 2025 - 26 Student Ambassador and to share my experiences with future students.

Outside of nursing, I have a deep love for dance, lifestyle and beauty, trying new things, and content creation. My name is Rhiannon, and I’m in my second semester at UMSON. I currently work at Children’s National as a patient care technician, and I’m passionate about becoming a pediatric nurse after graduation. Outside of school and work, I love running, getting lost in a good book, and recently picked up crocheting. Hi everyone! My name is Yetunde, my loved ones call me Tunes. I am a third-semester MSN-E student at the Baltimore campus. I am passionate about maternal-newborn and pediatric nursing as well as psychiatric health. I have dreams of becoming a DNP and one day opening my own practice. I currently serve as the Community Outreach Chair for GNA, where I enjoy fostering connections and giving back to the community. As a Student Ambassador, I look forward to supporting my peers, sharing my journey with prospective students, and highlighting the opportunities UMSON provides. Outside of nursing school, I enjoy shopping, doing pilates, and traveling!
