phish alert button

Stay vigilant: Don’t let scammers catch you off guard.

The UMB IT security team has observed a rise in phishing emails targeting our users, aiming to steal personal information and login credentials. Please take a moment to review these essential tips to keep your account and data safe:

  • IT will never send you an email with an attachment asking you to confirm your account.
  • Be wary of any email that comes from outside our campus network — always check for the external sender warning banner.
  • Examine the “from” address carefully. Phishing attempts often come from random Gmail or suspicious addresses.
  • Do not respond to any message that seems suspicious or out of the ordinary.
  • Use the Phish Alert Button to report questionable emails right away. Instructions and additional resources are available on the Phishing and Spam Email page at the Center for Information Technology Services.

If you need assistance or have any concerns, contact us via the webform (accessible from your desktop shortcut) or call 410-706-HELP.

Stay alert, stay safe, and help us keep our campus community secure!
