Last month, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry proudly participated in the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes event during which:
- 55 athletes received free dental screenings
- every athlete got personalized oral hygiene education
- 15 custom athletic mouthguards were crafted for athletes in contact sports
- fluoride varnish was applied to help protect the majority of athletes' smiles
