UMSOM Students Need Your Support for Project Feast This Thanksgiving
October 07, 2025Project Feast is a student organization at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) that organizes a free Thanksgiving meal for the Baltimore community every Thanksgiving Day. We are proudly sponsored by the University Student Government Association and the Medical Alumni Association. This year, our feast is on Thursday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Booker T. Washington Middle School.
In addition to providing a meal, we also connect our guests with a variety of community resources and a large collection of donated clothing, blankets, toiletries, and pantry staples available to meet their immediate needs. For the past 35 years, this event has fed hundreds of people — last year, we served approximately 450 guests with the help of 140 volunteers.
Here’s how we can use your help:
Volunteer: Help us transport and store donations, bake turkeys, advertise in the community, and serve food the day of the event. Sign up to volunteer here.
Host a screening: We are looking for student groups interested in partnering with Project Feast for the day of the event to offer helpful community resources and/or health screenings such as blood pressure screening, medication guidance, etc.
Donate: We seek gently used clothing, nonperishable food items, and toiletries, which can be left at the collection boxes around campus, such as those in the SMC Campus Center lobby or medical school lobby.
Sponsor: Direct donations for the cost of a turkey, meal, winter coat, or any amount are always welcome and greatly appreciated. Donate here.
