UMB launched  “Breakthroughs Can’t Wait: Changing the Future Today,” a new multimedia campaign highlighting the groundbreaking research taking place across UMB’s seven schools. This initiative brings the public face-to-face with the scientists and experts whose work is transforming health, medicine, and community well-being in real time.

Among the featured researchers are two leaders from the University of Maryland School of Social Work:

Lisa Berlin, PhD, MS, Alison L. Richman Professor for Children, Youth, and Families, whose research is advancing early childhood health through nurturing, science-based parenting programs. Dr. Berlin’s work focuses on strengthening early child-parent attachment and developing interventions that support families, especially in underserved communities.

Jay Unick, PhD, MSW, professor, who leads the IRIS Project. This initiative partners with community organizations to expand access to evidence-based addiction recovery services, helping to address the urgent need for effective support in addiction treatment and recovery.

The “Breakthroughs Can’t Wait” campaign uses short videos, in-depth Q&As, and written features to showcase these and other UMB researchers who are making a real-world impact with federally funded innovation.
