Volunteer for Trick or Treat with UMB on Oct. 24
August 27, 2025The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Community and Civic Engagement (OCCE) will host the fourth annual “Trick or Treat with UMB” event on Friday, Oct. 24, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at 873 W. Baltimore St. (the parking lot at West Baltimore and South Poppleton streets).
Join us for a night filled with frights and fun! This event provides safe and free Halloween activities for youth and families in West Baltimore. Community members can visit more than 20 stations offering delicious treats, fun games, creative crafts, and more.
Consider volunteering for “Trick or Treat with UMB.” There are two ways to volunteer:
1. Run a Trick-or-Treat Table
UMB student and employee groups are invited to sign up to request a table at this event. Each group will be provided with a 3-foot by 6-foot rectangular table and two chairs. To help create a festive atmosphere, groups should decorate their tables and hand out treats to community members in attendance.
Groups are responsible for bringing their own candy or treats, decorations, and any additional seating. This annual event draws about 400 attendees, and groups are asked to plan to serve up to 300 youth. Costumes are optional but highly encouraged to add to the celebration.
2. Sign Up as a General Volunteer
Individuals or groups may sign up for up to two shifts if they wish to volunteer for the entire event. Volunteers will be assigned specific roles during their shifts, including setup, registration support, greeter, activities support, and breakdown. Costumes are optional but highly encouraged.
Shifts:
- Setup and activities: 3 to 5 p.m.
- Activities and breakdown: 5 to 6:30 p.m.
