We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the Dean's Scholarship Scholars (DSS) Program. This program supports faculty in preparing and submitting scholarly manuscripts or book chapters, with the expectation that DSS awardees will lead authorship efforts and submit a manuscript or chapter for publication during their DSS term. Please note: Applications are for the fall semester for a DSS term beginning the following spring.

Application Requirements

To submit a complete application, please have the following ready:

• Proposed Scholarly Topic: a brief description of the manuscript or chapter you plan to write
• Type of Publication: indicate whether it will be a peer-reviewed manuscript, book chapter, or other
• Anticipated Co-Authors: list any collaborators (optional)
• Supporting Materials:
  • Current CV
  • Draft or outline of your proposed manuscript or chapter
  • Letter of support from your department chair

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be full-time faculty with an earned doctoral degree
• Hold a 10- or 12-month appointment on the tenure or non-tenure track
• Not currently hold a large internal award (e.g., UM Nursing, KL-2)
• Not have previously served as a DSS (or will be given lower priority if they have)
• Manuscripts may be derived from a DNP project or PhD dissertation completed within the past two years (completion of work toward a degree is not eligible)

Awardee Responsibilities

• Write and submit a scholarly article or chapter for publication during the DSS term.
• Serve as first author (for manuscripts) or lead author (for chapters).
• Share outcomes of the DSS experience (e.g., publications, grant submissions, presentations) at a designated school meeting.
