Are you an early to mid-career basic science research faculty member at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) looking for structured training to prepare a grant application? If so, this program is for you!

The Center for Advanced Research Training & Innovation (CARTI) seeks applications for the 2026 Basic Science Research Training Track. This four-month program provides intensive training to UMB faculty on skills critical for launching an independent research career and securing research funding. Training will include didactic and grant writing instruction, experiential learning, a capstone grant application, and mock study section. CARTI scholars are required to complete each element of the training schedule, including completion of an individual development plan and submission of a grant application, within six months of participation.
