The Cohen Scholars Program (formerly Hal and Jo Cohen Graduate Nursing Faculty Scholarship) provides financial assistance for graduate nursing students interested in pursuing a nurse educator role in Maryland. This opportunity is open to graduate nursing students currently working as faculty or nurse educators, as well as those planning on working in a faculty or nurse educator role after graduation from their program. 

Who is eligible?

Full-time or part-time graduate students accepted to or currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Nursing program, post-graduate certificate program in nursing education, or doctoral program.

Additional application requirements

  • You must be a Maryland resident.
  • You must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • You must have an RN license.

Award amount and information

The Cohen Scholars Program is equal to all tuition and mandatory fees for courses in the approved nursing plan of study. Recipients of the award partake in mentorship and nurse educator professional development activities during their time in the program. After graduation, recipients are required to work in a nurse educator or faculty role for a specified amount of time based on the length of funding received. 

Applications for the 2026 - 27 academic year are open until May 1.
