Speaker: Randy T. Keirn, MPA, BSN, RN, EMT-P, CSP, EFO, founder of Fully Involved Consulting Inc. and consultant with the Healthy Workforce Institute.

This interactive session builds on the CLEAR Rx framework presented in Part 1 of this series by focusing on its practical application in nursing practice settings. Participants will learn to identify expectation, skill, and motivation gaps when addressing professional concerns; use language to establish clear and observable behavioral expectations; and apply the CLEAR Rx model through guided scenarios. The session will emphasize measurable expectations, accountability, and the maintenance of professional standards in clinical environments through structured communication, behavioral clarity, and consistent follow-through.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate between expectation, skill, and motivation gaps
  2. Convert vague language into observable behavioral expectations
  3. Formulate clear and measurable expectations aligned with nursing standards
  4. Develop collaborative action steps that promote accountability
  5. Demonstrate use of the CLEAR Rx framework in a guided scenario

About the Speaker:

Randy T. Keirn brings more than 35 years of experience in health care and emergency services, offering a unique leadership perspective shaped by his work as both a registered nurse and a fire service executive. Having served in emergency and intensive care settings as well as in leadership roles including district chief of operations and division chief of emergency medical services, Keirn specializes in leadership development, conflict resolution, and team performance in high-stakes environments. Founder of Fully Involved Consulting Inc., he has delivered leadership programs across the United States and internationally for organizations ranging from health care systems to Fortune 500 companies. He holds a Master of Public Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and multiple professional certifications, and he is the author of “CROSSFire: Taking the Heat out of Conflict.” Through his CLEAR Rx framework, he helps health care leaders address conflict with confidence, strengthen communication, and foster healthier workplace cultures that support exceptional patient care. 

Continuing Nursing Professional Development at the University of Maryland School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Nurses may receive 1.0 contact hour for attending this webinar in its entirety and completing the evaluation. Nurses will receive the certificate via email from the University of Maryland School of Nursing within two to four weeks after submitting the completed evaluation.
