As we prepare for the fall 2026 Faculty Convocation ceremony, we are excited to invite nominations for distinguished individuals to serve as one of our three speakers for TED Talk-style talks. The Convocation speakers play a vital role in inspiring and motivating students, faculty, and staff as they embark on a new academic year. Convocation will occur this year on Sept. 17.
We welcome nominations of individuals who embody the core values of our University community and have made significant contributions to their respective fields. Whether they are renowned scholars, visionary leaders, accomplished professionals, or influential figures in public service, we seek individuals whose insights will resonate with our University and inspire them to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
For example, see the attached talk from Jacqueline C. Mitchell, PhD, CRNA, FAANA, at Convocation 2025. If this describes you, we encourage you to nominate yourself for this amazing opportunity.
You may submit your nomination by sending an email to provost@umaryland.edu no later than Friday, May 1, 2026. A case will be created in Interfolio on your behalf, and you will be provided steps on how to complete your nomination packet. The deadline to submit a nomination packet is Friday, May 15, 2026. As a reminder, this is a self-nomination process for faculty.
The Convocation speaker selection committee will carefully review all nominations and consider each candidate's qualifications, relevance, and potential to inspire our students, faculty, and staff. We appreciate your participation in this important process and look forward to receiving your nominations.
