After nearly 50 years of dedicated service, Louis G. DePaola, DDS, MS, associate dean of clinical affairs, will retire from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry on July 1, 2026.

Since joining the school in 1977, Dr. DePaola has played a pivotal role in shaping clinical care, advancing patient safety, and mentoring generations of dental professionals. His leadership in infection control — particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic — has made a lasting impact on the school and the broader dental community.
