Associate Professor Theda Rose, Ph.D., MSW, has been appointed as the Director of our Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Programs, effective July 1, 2026.

Dr. Rose’s scholarship centers on asset-based approaches to promoting mental health and positive development among youth of color. Her prior practice and evaluation work with adolescents in youth development and educational settings ground her research, which advances holistic approaches to mental health by incorporating wellbeing and the influence of social and environmental contexts. She is especially committed to youths’ lived experiences and to integrating youth perspectives into research and intervention development.

Dr. Rose earned her PhD in Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, her MSW from Stony Brook University in New York, and her BA in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Please congratulate Dr. Rose on this well-deserved appointment and in supporting her leadership of our Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Programs.
