Core Values Tree Graphic

At the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), our core values shape not only what we accomplish, but how we accomplish it.

From now through the end of October, we're revisiting Respect and Integrity — We value each other and hold ourselves accountable for acting ethically and transparently using compassion and empathy.

In many ways, Respect and Integrity is the foundation of UMB accomplishing our mission to improve the human condition and serve the public good of Maryland and society at large. Respect recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of every person, while integrity calls us to act consistently with our values, even when it's difficult.

Together, these values create an environment where people feel safe, valued, and empowered to contribute their best.

Reflect on and respond to the question below to share how Respect and Integrity influence your daily interactions and the ways we can strengthen these values in our work and community. Check back in in two weeks for Question 2.
