University of Maryland, Baltimore Office of Sustainability

The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Office of Sustainability is seeking a Federal Work-Study student for a Program Administration-Sustainability position. The selected student will help implement programs and initiatives supporting UMB’s Sustainability Strategic Plan, including efforts to reduce waste, increase recycling, expand composting opportunities, and promote sustainability across campus.

The student will assist with:

  • Waste-related programs and initiatives
  • Development of educational and outreach materials
  • In-person events and campus awareness activities
  • Coordination of Earth Month and Campus Sustainability Month events
  • Research and data collection in support of sustainability projects
  • Other sustainability initiatives as needed

The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, able to meet deadlines, and comfortable working independently and collaboratively. Familiarity with social media platforms is preferred.

Schedule: Approximately 12 to 20 hours per week. Work hours do not need to be consecutive.

Federal Work-Study Requirement: Applicants must have an active Federal Work-Study award for the applicable academic term or believe they may be eligible for Federal Work-Study funding.
